Plot:
It is the story of five ragtag freshmen Olivia White(Bridgit Mendler), Wen Gifford(Adam Hicks), Stella Yamada(Hayley Kiyoko), Mo Banjaree(Naomi Scott) and Charlie Delgado(Blake Michael) who meet as strangers in detention. Through music, the one thing they have in common, they form deep bonds with each other and they ultimately form a band to stand up for their beliefs. They overcome their individual and collective struggles, as they learn to lean on each other and let go of everything that is holding back their dreams.

I came to know about this movie from the song "Somebody". I heard the song somewhere and loved it. I finally watched this movie 2 days back. Basically I'm a Disney fan. I grew up watching everything "Disney", and I still love it. But I have mixed feelings for this movie.
I love the soundtrack of the movie. And the story line of the movie was good too. If we just watch the film for the songs and the story line(as I did) it seems good. It can please the audience of age 14 or less. Just as a critic of rottentomatoes said "a typical innocuous Disney Channel flick". It was fine, but not High School Musical fine. The acting of the cast was not bad. But the film had many loopholes. Like how Olivia is supposed to be this shy girl who has a terrible stage fear, but the first time they tap and play instruments in the detention room/music room, she is this perky, playful girl who hops all around the room as she sings. According to the story Lemonade mouth, the band was supposed to be the voice of the suppressed. But they didn't show much on how they overcame their personal inhibitions. It felt like everything magically fell into place for them, when they got on the stage to sing for the first time. It seemed too good to feel natural or real. I get the feeling that I might like the novel better than the film. The limitations of time for a film unlike a book might be one drawback. But I do think it'll perfectly please the audience of 14 and below. And so its not that bad.
The film was shot in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It was watched by 5.7 million viewers on its premier night. It ranked as the No.1 TV telecast among Kids 6-11(2.3 million/9.4) and Teens 9-14(2.1 million/8.4), and cable's No.1 original movie of 2011 among Total viewers. It won "Popstar Awards" in Favorite TV Movie Category and "JaNEWary Awards" in Best iTunes Song category for the song Determinate. The sequel for the movie was cancelled as Disney felt that the movie had completed its story in the first movie.
The soundtrack album of the film with ten original songs, also named Lemonade Mouth, by Brigit Mendler and the cast of the film, was released on April 12,2011 by Hollywood Records. It covers genres teen-pop, punk-pop, hip-hop and rock. The Soundtrack peaked at number 4 on the US Billboard 200, number 3 on the US Top Digital Albums, and topped the US Top Soundtracks and US Kid Albums. The singles "Somebody", "Determinate" and "Breakthrough" peaked at number 89, 51 and 88 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
All 14 and below viewers will like the movie. It will also suit the tastes of all Disney lovers and Music lovers. I suggest it as a one-time watch for all Movie lovers.
